Listening Well
A Spiritual Direction Practice with Julia Halford
A

At Listening Well, the heart of the practice is modeled after Jesus’ tender and attentive encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4). In that sacred moment, Jesus listens deeply—without judgment, with presence and compassion—opening space for healing, truth, and transformation.

Spiritual direction offers a similar invitation: to come to your own well and be received with reverence. In a quiet, prayerful space, we listen together—listening well to the Spirit, to your soul’s longings, questions, and stirrings. Through this contemplative process, we discern God’s loving voice and movement in the unique unfolding of your life.

Listening Well is a space of accompaniment, where you are invited to slow down, notice, and respond to the sacred within and around you. Whether you are navigating transition, seeking clarity, or desiring a deeper relationship with God, you are welcome to bring your whole self and drink from the well that never runs dry.
